After four years of studying, walking across the stage and receiving a diploma is a satisfying and joyous occasion. It passes quickly, though, and it doesn’t really capture everything that college meant. After all, this has been a time for not only intense learning but also for forging friendships that can last a lifetime. Don’t let the ceremony be the end of your celebration. Use it as a catalyst for some more time. Plan a party. Enjoy each other’s company, and live it up for the day.
Pick a Venue
Try and find a location that holds special meaning. Did you frequent a particular restaurant? Maybe you spent time in a certain area of town? Be happy together in a place of familiarity and comfort. If it’s not a restaurant, you’ll want to check and see what they provide. Parks and theaters don’t always have seating or food. These require additional preparation and outside vendors. Low on funds? Gather at someone’s apartment. You can bring your own food and beverage to help offset costs. Just remember it’s about fun.
Consider Entertainment
Establish a tone. Do you prefer a wild send off? Hire a DJ, or rent inflatables new jersey. Dance until late the in evening, and have some childhood fun before entering the adult working world. Do you want something on a smaller scale? Then share a simple meal together. Maybe you were fans of staying up late and watching movies? Pick a group favorite. Were you board game aficionados? Stay up until the wee hours battling it out in Scrabble or Monopoly. It might be a while before you see these classmates again. This is a chance to relish in each other’s company.
College offers years of happiness and a chance to become independent. Take some time to party with those you care about. You’ve worked hard and deserve some fun.
